Ricardo Perez, 36, has been identified as the man who was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after hitting a Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services ambulance late on Sunday night.
The Laurel resident was driving a Hyundai Sonata south on Washington Boulevard shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, according to investigators, when he hit a stationary ambulance that had its warning lights activated in the right turn lane leading to Country Meadows Lane.
Perez was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two paramedics inside the ambulance were taken to Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and have since been released.
It is unclear what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
